FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAS VEGAS, NV – February 28, 2011

The notorious “shocker” hand gesture just got a little more infamous release of The Shocker – Two in the Pink, One in the Stink. The book, like the shocker itself, comes in two parts:  In the first, author Chad Brody gives a theory and background of the gesture, its accompanying rhyme, and its rise to urban legend.  The second part of the book is a collection of variations on the shocker rhyme “Two in the pink, one in the stink.”

If you don’t know what the shocker is, you’re not alone.  There seems to be a cult following around the hand gesture, and if you know, you know; If you don’t, the jokes on you.  From the preface:  ”…Even more intriguing is how the shocker has remained a mystery to the uninitiated for so long: a middle finger won’t fly in a family photo, but the shocker can slip by unpunished.”  If you’re curious what the shocker is, I’m going to have to direct you to Wikipedia or shockerbook.com, because it’s not pretty.  The shocker gets its name because of what a “shocker” it is to the person who gets “shocked.”

The first section of the book is exceptionally thorough, but still very funny (and very dirty!).  The second section is like a joke book, with the shockers listed in succession.  The book makes a great gift, or a great bathroom reader, as it provides hours of laughter.  Clean typography and great layout combine with an expert treatment of a touchy subject to make for a great reading experience.
